Some of the best conversations happen at walking pace.

We're heading to Pismo Preserve on Saturday at 10am for a late-morning hike — the kind where the views are nice but the company is the point. We'll stick to the wider dirt roads so people can actually walk side by side and talk; once everyone's there, we'll pick which one based on what the group's up for. A few options, a few difficulty levels, no wrong answer.

Look for us at the benches by the bathrooms at the trailhead — that's the gathering spot.

Parking PSA: park in the dirt lot on the other side of the 101 and walk over. Don't try to drive up to the main lot — it fills up fast on weekend mornings and you'll end up circling, blocking someone in, or getting turned around at the gate. A few extra minutes of walking on the front end saves a whole lot of frustration. Trust us on this one.

Bring water, sunscreen, and your old dusty shoes.
